I had been asked to do a Seminar on our products – well Raising Furniture Remotely to be exact and as we are in the midst of a horrific pandemic, the seminar was going to be a Webinar.

I was so nervous. I know my product and what I wanted to say but it is so weird doing a Webinar when you know people are watching but you can’t gauge their reactions or see any of them. What if no one logged on to watch? Or what if I fell over!!?

I set everything up and ran through it – the sound quality wasn’t very good! Luckily I was able to do it in the showroom at Head Office but it was so empty that there was a massive echo. We dragged furniture around to try and muffle it and got the camera set up. Then we waited… and Oh My Word!!! So many people logged on to listen!! 422 to be exact with over 1000 people registering!

I am so happy and overwhelmed by the response! Thank you to everyone who logged on to watch – I hope that you all took something away with you and that I was some help.

Special thank you to Stuart Barrow and his team at OTAC and Promoting Independence for suggesting I do this and hosting it.

I think sometimes you just have to come out of your comfort zone and get on with it. I enjoyed it immensely and hope to do more in the future.

If you did watch this afternoon – apologies for the sound – promise it will be better next time! And please if you have any questions don’t hesitate to email enquiries@gordonellis.co.uk
urn:store:2:blog:post:68 https://www.safeandsoundproducts.net/rumour-has-it Rumour has it....
Rumour has it…..

So, the country is in lockdown and unfortunately there are many businesses in our industry that have had to shut their doors or reduce deliveries to keep their staff and business safe.

Some of us are in the lucky position where we can continue to work because we manufacture and produce products which are helping people either get of hospital quicker or stay in their homes safe and away from this horrific virus. This service is vital in helping the NHS and the vulnerable in our society.

It is a time of uncertainty and trying to let people know that we are still producing and despatching as normal as we possibly can be is proving difficult and I have lost count of the amount of customers who have called saying they are struggling to get our products or think that we have shut.

So here goes – WE ARE OPEN!

If you are finding it hard to get Furniture Raisers, Toilet Seats, Commodes, Grab Rails, Outdoor Steps, Bath Boards, Shower Stools, products for the Hearing impaired, or other Daily Living Aids, give us a call or speak to your supplier, we have good stocks and most deliveries would be within 2-3 days.
urn:store:2:blog:post:66 https://www.safeandsoundproducts.net/working-from-home-challenging-or-breath-of-fresh-air-by-marty-brookes-healthcare-manager-for-gordon-ellis Working from home – challenging or breath of fresh air? - By Marty Brookes (Healthcare Manager)

So, I am currently on day 4 of working from home. Many people live with unaddressed hearing loss, and this can pose a high cost for the global economy and significantly impact the lives of those affected. In 2017, the WHO aim to build awareness of the cost-effective interventions that are available to address hearing loss.

World Hearing Day 2017 highlights actions which can be undertaken by decision-makers to address hearing loss. The noise may be continuous or it may come and go.

Although the exact cause of tinnitus is not known, we do know that it is not a disease or an illness. But when you have a hearing impairment this can be made even more difficult; not only is it difficult to hear the ring, but when you have to make a call it can be difficult to hear the speaker on the other end.

SASP understand these challenges, so they offer a range of telephones designed for people who are deaf or have hearing impairments.

They have a number of great features to alert you of calls, and allow you to easily understand the speaker:

1. An extra loud adjustable ringer – This allows users to adjust the setting depending on the level of their hearing. This helps them hear the ring wherever they are in the house, and even turn it down in the evenings when they wish to sleep.

2. Bright flash ringer – The bright light flashes when the telephone is ringing helping to alert those with reduced or no hearing when they can’t hear the ring.

3. Large buttons – Allowing for easier navigation and dialling, the telephones feature large backlit buttons. It also has the option for Talk Back, giving a clear voice of each number when pressed.

4. Compatible with hearing aids – Our products feature belt clips and lanyards and are expandable with up to 5 handsets.

5. Textlink Textphone – This product allows those with a full hearing impairment to easily make calls using a text feature rather than spoken communication. The conversation is displayed on a screen, allowing the user to easily understand and reply to telephone conversations.

Corded Amplified Telephone SASP Wireless Telephone Ringer and Doorbell

Cordless Amplified Telephone Textlink 9100 Textphone
urn:store:2:blog:post:44 https://www.safeandsoundproducts.net/benefits-of-having-an-induction-loop-in-your-home Benefits of Having an Induction Loop in Your Home
An induction loop is a type of sound system designed for use by people with hearing aids. It provides a magnetic, wireless signal that can be picked up by hearing aids when they are set to the ‘T’ (Telecoil) setting.

Domestic Induction Loops include a cable which is placed around the specific area (e.g. lounge or bedroom) and transmits the sound as a magnetic field which is received by your hearing aid. They are useful to hear conversations or sounds from the TV or music players.

So why use an induction loop system?

- The sound is transmitted directly to the hearing aid with no need for a receiver/headset.

- They cut out any unwanted background noise, allowing clear noise to be heard through the hearing aid device.

- Can be used by anyone with a compatible hearing aid, with any number of users using the system at the same time.

- It is cost effective and discreet.

- As they are not wired to any device, you can walk around and listen to your sound source from anywhere within the loop.

Our SASP induction loops are compatible with a range of items, including; TV’s, fire alarms, doorbells, security systems and microphones. Our induction loops are designed to be discrete and fit easily into any setting.
